Lerch Early Represents Howard University in $144M Student Housing Deal
Howard University has entered into a $144 million partnership with real estate group Corvias in a deal that will pay for Howard’s renovations of two of its largest residence halls. Lerch Early’s Sharon Craig served as lead real estate counsel for Howard, assisted by David Kay.
As part of the 40-year partnership, Corvias will completely renovate the East and West Towers of Howard’s Plaza Towers residence at 2251 Sherman Ave. NW. The West Tower will be substantially completed by August 2017, and the East Tower will be completed in August 2018. The project will deliver 1,730 newly renovated beds to the university’s student housing portfolio.
As part of the deal, Corvias also will manage the university’s Drew and Cook residence halls on the north side of the main campus.
