Employment attorneys Jessie Summers and Tiffany McClease provided an update on Maryland’s new family leave program, explaining that it will be a publicly funded short-term disability plan providing up to 12 weeks of leave for employees, starting in January 2028. During Lerch, Early & Brewer’s Employment Law Day on September 30, 2026, they highlighted the importance of registering for the Maryland Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program at https://paidleave.maryland.gov/register/ if you are an employer with at least one employee in Maryland.
