Rise to every opportunity

We are often asked by lateral attorney candidates, why choose Lerch Early?

The answer starts with the type of environment we’ve built over time. It’s supportive, collaborative, and always evolving. It’s why so many talented attorneys choose to build their careers here—and stay. We’ve been intentional about creating a culture where people can grow, do great work, and feel good doing it.

What We Look For in a Lateral

Strong lateral candidates bring both technical skill and a client-focused mindset to their work. They take pride in delivering high-quality service, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and approach their work with a consistent sense of ownership. Just as important, they contribute to a professional environment where colleagues and clients value working with them.

We are currently focused on growing our Business & Tax and Real Estate Transactions groups.

Business & Tax Laterals

We are actively seeking to expand our Business & Tax group. These roles offer a meaningful opportunity to grow a practice within a collaborative, high-performing team that values both technical excellence and strong client relationships.

Lateral attorneys are drawn to the group for the balance it offers—sophisticated, high-impact work paired with a culture that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and long-term client partnership. Here, laterals take an active role in advising clients on complex business and tax matters while building a sustainable, engaging practice in an environment designed to support both professional success and personal growth.

Real Estate Transactions Laterals

We are seeking to grow our Real Estate Transactions group by adding senior lateral partners with experience in transactions, commercial leasing, and financing. This is a strong opportunity for laterals looking to expand their practice within a well-established, collaborative real estate team.

Lateral attorneys are drawn to the practice for its broad, hands-on exposure to commercial real estate matters and its focus on meaningful participation at every stage of a deal. In line with the firm’s culture, laterals are trusted with sophisticated work, valued as team contributors, and supported in building lasting client relationships and a dynamic, long-term practice.

Why Laterals Choose Lerch Early

I have worked in an international law firm and a mid-sized law firm, and have operated my own two-person practice, and what I’ve found is that Lerch Early is the perfect size. We operate as a team.

One of things about coming to Lerch Early as a lateral is having a group of attorneys who are eager to work with you and to help grow your practice. Lerch Early’s reputation has really helped me get a foot in the door.

Twenty years ago, I left a large law firm to pursue a career at Lerch Early and I’ve never looked back. At Lerch Early, I’ve found the best of all worlds: the ability to work on sophisticated matters alongside brilliant, dedicated lawyers while maintaining an active lifestyle outside the firm. I can’t imagine practicing law anywhere else.

Working at mid-size Lerch Early versus a large law firm versus is like living in an apartment building with 60 units versus 600. It’s a different kind of environment – here, you’re part of the process, your opinion matters, your voice is heard.

As soon as I joined the firm, I could see it was different from my prior firms. Everyone was welcoming, and the firm supported my request to adjust my hours so I could spend time with my children after school. With the mentorship of senior partners, I grew as a legal practitioner and producer, advancing from associate to partner and practice group leader. I hope I have instilled that same sense of belonging and growth in those I work with.
