Overview

David Cox advises clients on commercial and residential real estate matters, with a particular focus on title issues, community associations, financing transactions, acquisitions, leasing, and development. For over four decades, he has helped individuals, businesses, lenders, title insurers, and community associations navigate complex real estate challenges throughout the Washington region.

David works with clients to resolve title defects, title insurance coverage disputes, and issues arising under the District of Columbia’s Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA). He also advises banks, corporate fiduciaries, partnerships, and other organizations on the acquisition, financing, leasing, management, and sale of office buildings, shopping centers, and multifamily housing projects. More recently, David has served as an expert witness in several Maryland and DC real estate litigation matters.

In addition, David represents housing cooperatives and condominium associations on a wide range of community association matters. His experience as a negotiator, advisor, and litigator enables him to guide clients through complex real estate and title-related issues.

Throughout his career, David has remained active in the real estate, title insurance, and legal communities. He has held leadership roles with the DC Bar real estate section/community, District of Columbia Land Title Association, Community Associations Institute, Council for Court Excellence, and numerous civic and professional organizations throughout the Washington area.

Outside the office, he is an avid golfer and serves as a marshal at major golf events in the Washington region.
