Family Law Paralegal

We’re seeking an experienced paralegal to work with our family law practice to support all phases of the litigation process, from the discovery process through appeals.

Specifically, this position is responsible for document organization and production support, including:

  • Obtaining required documents
  • Organizing and maintaining a document database, redacting, photocopying, and indexing documents
  • Management of the discovery process, including: review and analysis of discovery responses, preparation of requests, responses, pleadings, and correspondence related to discovery
  • Trial preparation, including: organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling witnesses, preparing financial statements, marital property statements, and discovery responses by meeting with clients to obtain the information
  • Updating records as additional information is provided

In addition, the successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the litigation process and be familiar with the varying procedures of the courts of Maryland and DC.

Requirements

A minimum of 2-3 years of family law litigation support or comparable work experience and appropriate educational background (e.g. paralegal certificate, bachelor degree, or equivalent) are required. Candidate must have strong organization skills, ability to multitask, high attention to detail, and be an effective communicator. Must have experience utilizing software applications to support the litigation process including Word, PowerPoint, document management systems (Summation, Concordance, Eclipse, etc.), scanning, bates stamping, and e-filing.
