Lerch, Early & Brewer seeks a family law attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join our firm.

This person is expected to handle cases with a high level of independence, as well as co-counsel cases with senior attorneys; manage day-to-day tasks, develop case information, evidence, and settlement options; handle motions and other hearings independently; manage trial preparation; and work with paralegals/legal assistants.

Excellent writing and analytical skills and strong academic credentials are required. Maryland and DC Bar required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Executes case strategy independently and/or with senior attorneys, paralegals, clients and support staff.
  • Manages high level/high asset cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; corresponds with opposing counsel.
  • Proactively keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress.
  • Supports case planning; prepares materials for mediation; prepares pleadings; research and analysis of legal issues.
  • Manages the discovery process, including review and analysis of discovery responses, preparation of requests, responses, pleadings, and correspondence related to discovery. Prepares for depositions.
  • Is involved with trials and other court proceedings, working with support staff in organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling witnesses, and ensuring that witnesses are available and prepared when needed.
  • Attends business development and networking functions.
  • Works productively and collaboratively in a team environment.
