Steve Robins Receives Daily Record's Leadership in Law Award

The Daily Record has selected Steve Robins to receive the 2012 Leadership in Law Award in recognition of his outstanding professional achievement, community service and mentoring.

“We are proud to honor Steve Robins as one of The Daily Record’s Leadership in Law Award winners for 2012,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “Steve embodies those traits that spurred The Daily Record to establish these awards recognizing outstanding leadership within the legal profession, betterment of the community at large and a true willingness to mentor future leaders.” 

Steve is one of 24 members of Maryland's legal community who will be honored at the Leadership in Law reception on November 15.

The accomplishments considered by the voting panel included:

  • Wisconsin Place: Steve was the lead land use attorney on the Wisconsin Place project in Friendship Heights, a mixed use project that spanned 17 years.
  • Other Transit-Oriented Projects: North Bethesda Market in White Flint, The National Park Seminary (adaptive reuse of the Walter Reed annex in Silver Spring), Grosvenor Village (a public/private venture with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority), Wheaton Safeway (the first Optional Method of Development project in Wheaton including a state-of-the-art Safeway), Glenmont Metro Center (rezoning of property surrounding the Glenmont Metro facility with predominantly residential uses), Poplar Run (former Indian Spring Country Club property), and many others.
  • Foundation for Special Needs Individuals: Steve is working with this group, on a pro bono basis, to establish a new housing facility in Montgomery County for adult individuals with special needs.
  • Montgomery County Public Safety: For more than a dozen years, Steve has chaired the county's annual Public Safety Awards honoring police, fire and rescue, park police, the sheriff's office and the correction and rehabilitation divisions. He also chairs the private sector effort to create a Montgomery County Public Safety Memorial to honor those individuals who have lost their lives in service to the county.

Steve Robins is a land use attorney at Lerch, Early & Brewer in Bethesda, Maryland who represents prominent national and regional developers, contractors, lenders and commercial property owners and has been involved in many high-visibility projects in Montgomery County.
