Second Hand Smoke: Jeremy Tucker and Mike Goecke Address CAI on Cigarette Complaints

Jeremy Tucker and Mike Goecke spoke about the legal and practical issues involved with addressing cigarette smoking-related complaints within condominiums at the Community Associations Institute Washington Metro Chapter’s 2011 Conference & Expo. They reviewed the types of rules and amendments that associations can adopt, and discussed the potential consequences for boards that fail to take action addressing smoking complaints. Their session included a brief review of case law from around the country where residents have filed suit against their condominiums for failing to take preventative action against cigarette smoking. For more information on second hand smoking in condominiums, contact Jeremy or Mike.
