Richard N. Ruprecht

Richard Ruprecht is an estate planning attorney at Lerch, Early & Brewer in Bethesda, Maryland. He is a principal with the firm who practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and elder law.

Richard helps people with all aspects of estate planning, including documents such as wills, durable powers of attorney for finance, and advance medical directives that ensure his clients’ wishes are carried out if they become unable to express those wishes themselves.

His attention to detail coupled with his ability to discuss complex issues in a straightforward manner– especially when discussing difficult or detailed aspects of estate planning – are appreciated by his clients. Richard works with clients during the estate planning process to help minimize their tax liability and assists them with tax and probate filing needs.

Active in Montgomery County civic affairs, Richard has served as an adult advisor to the Walter Johnson High School Key Club (community service organization) since 1991; as a member of the Miracle League of Montgomery County, Maryland’ s board of directors (non-profit organized in 2006 to establish a specially designed playing field and league for children and adults with disabilities to enjoy playing baseball); as past distinguished president and current board member of the Kiwanis Club of Bethesda and the Kiwanis Foundation of Bethesda; as event chair of the annual Veterans’ Day Observance in Bethesda since 1989; as a volunteer representative payee for SSI-eligible recipients under the auspices of the Bethesda Cares organization; and as  past president of Bethesda Green. He also has taught a Montgomery College course on income taxation of real estate.

Richard was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. After graduating from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, with honors, he went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He also earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to joining Lerch Early in 1986, Richard was with the Office of General Counsel, U.S. General Accounting Office, in Washington, D.C. He is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania.
