Diane Kilcoyne is an attorney with the Litigation and Employment & Labor groups at Lerch, Early & Brewer where she helps clients prepare for complex civil trials. Diane handles many cases involving large volumes of discovery – particularly electronic discovery – and is tenacious in her ability to identify the key items that clients need to win their cases.
Meticulous with detail, but always able to see the big picture, Diane works with clients facing complex lawsuits, including large commercial contract disputes, real estate and development disputes, employment discrimination claims and white-collar criminal matters. She is known for her ability to collect, process and review extensive electronic data and, ultimately, identify the material that needs to be produced in the e-discovery phase for possible use later at trial. She assists both large and small businesses in the construction, manufacturing, technology and transportation industries, as well as religious organizations and family-owned businesses.
Prior to joining Lerch Early, Diane practiced at two other Montgomery County firms in the areas of employment law, commercial litigation and bankruptcy. Her extensive experience with complex commercial litigation is reflected in the appellate briefs she authored in the areas of banking, contract and employment law. Diane also managed a staff of more than 20 attorneys at USLaw.com, a legal information website for consumers and small businesses, where the team conducted over 50,000 online legal live "chats" with customers. Diane started her legal career as a deputy district attorney at the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office in Stockton, Ca., where she received significant court and jury trial experience.
Diane was an Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California Davis School of Law. Diane also attended the 2010 Georgetown University Law Center’s E-Discovery Academy.
Diane is a member of the Maryland, District of Columbia and California bars, and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
Diane lives in her hometown of Rockville, Md., where she is a member of the Woodley Gardens Garden Club and Woodley Gardens West Civic Association.
