Arthur F. Lafionatis

Arthur Lafionatis is an attorney and the chairman of the board at Lerch, Early & Brewer. He practices in the Real Estate, Business & Taxation, Commercial Lending and Creditors’ Rights & Workouts groups at the firm, and works on a range of matters – from commercial real estate, lending and business transactions to business counseling and succession planning.

His clients include a number of wholly owned, commercial real estate developers in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and several prominent financial institutions. He assists in the acquisition, sale, development and financing of commercial real estate; commercial leasing; commercial lending; the formation and operation of limited liability companies, limited partnerships and corporations; prepares letters of intent and contracts; conducts due diligence and works on construction-related matters.

Art also offers a combination of business acumen and legal experience that allows him to understand a client’s business and offer counsel that helps close important deals in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. He represents a diverse group of companies and individuals, including real estate developers, financial services institutions, construction companies, consultants and professionals, government contractors, nonprofits and associations, religious organizations and those in the real estate arena.

In addition, Art’s clients benefit from his significant experience in corporate and business law matters, including business formations, restructuring and divestitures, negotiation, and intellectual property, trademark and copyright matters. He also has represented numerous clients in connection with estate and succession planning.

Art has served as an advisor to several nonprofit organizations in the Washington, D.C., area. He is actively involved as legal counsel to Bethesda’s Greek Orthodox Church of St. George and chairs the church’s building committee, overseeing its most recent property acquisitions and construction.

Art earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire, graduating summa cum laude. He received his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the National Law Center at George Washington University. He is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia.

A native of New England, Art has called the Washington area his home for more than 30 years, but still is an avid fan of Boston’s sports teams. He is a high-end audiophile and the former publisher of The Audio Adventure, a magazine featuring affordable high-end audio equipment. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, trying to improve his golf game and attending local sporting events.
