Leisure World of Maryland recently entered into a long-term contract extension with Comcast whereby Comcast will continue to provide cable television and other communications services to the residents of the Leisure World community.  Leisure World has had long-term contractual arrangements with Comcast and its predecessors to provide community-wide cable television service.  Arnie Spevack, an attorney at Lerch, Early & Brewer, assisted the community in negotiating its first agreement with Tribune United Cable Television more than 20 years ago, the several contract extensions since that first agreement and the most recent contract extension of the cable communications agreement.  In the latest round of negotiations, he assisted the community in engaging a consultant for advice about the technical issues to be taken into account in extending the cable agreement.  As a result of the current contract extension, the residents of the community now will have substantially improved programming offerings at a very advantageous rate structure because of the unique buying power that Leisure World enjoys.
