Deborah Webb is a principal in the firm’s Family Law group. She is a divorce lawyer, guiding people through the entire process from separation through divorce, alimony and custody. Although Ms. Webb’s background in criminal law makes her an accomplished trial lawyer and a strong advocate, she often assists clients to resolve issues without resorting to litigation when possible. One of her biggest strengths is helping clients identify their goals and advising them on creative strategies to achieve the best outcome. Ms. Webb is detailed, task-oriented and understanding, which many clients find comforting.

Through her representation of celebrities and professional athletes, Ms. Webb has gained a wide breadth of experience in handling complex financial matters and in negotiating unique settlements. Her experience also includes negotiation and litigation in matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, property allocation, and business and stock option disputes. In addition, Ms. Webb represents clients with prenuptial and post marital planning and post-judgment issues, such as modification of custody and support and relocation matters. Moreover, Ms. Webb often is appointed by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County to represent children in complex custody disputes.

Maryland SuperLawyers magazine recognized Ms. Webb as one of Maryland’s “Top 25 Women Attorneys” (2010) and DC SuperLawyers recognized her as one of DC’s “Top 50 Women Attorneys” (2010). Ms. Webb also has been selected by her peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in the field of Family Law (2010).

Ms. Webb is an active member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association and the Collaborative Divorce Association, Inc. She received a Committee Chair of the Year Award from the Montgomery County Bar Association for her work with the Fee Dispute Resolution Committee. Ms. Webb co-chaired the Family Law Section from 2002-2003 and received the award for Outstanding Section Chair of the Year. Ms. Webb previously served on the Maryland State Bar Association’s Family and Juvenile Law Section Council and she is a past member of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Board of Governors.

Ms. Webb lectures frequently on divorce, separation agreements, domestic violence and custody and support issues. She facilitates family law matters in Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland.

Ms. Webb received her B.A. degree, with honors, from Gettysburg College in 1991. She received her J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Baltimore in 1994, where she received an American Jurisprudence Award for excellent achievement in the study of Contracts II and the Clinical Excellence Award in the Family Law Clinic. While in law school, she interned with the Honorable Ellen M. Heller, Circuit Court Judge for Baltimore City. Ms. Webb is trained in collaborative law and is a trained mediator in family law and general matters.

She is admitted to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
