Mr. Sherbill is a principal in the firm’s Business and Taxation Group. His corporate practice is broad, and involves advising businesses of all sizes in a variety of transactional, financial, and tax-related matters, as well as the handling and resolution of disputes. Specifically, he provides representation on business transactions and formations, the negotiation and drafting of agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and significant asset transactions. Mr. Sherbill also advises businesses on the consummation of preferred equity, senior debt and mezzanine financing transactions, shareholder matters, and strategic advisory services for corporations.
In addition to his broad business and corporate law experience, Mr. Sherbill has represented clients--most notably manufacturers, construction firms, service providers and defense companies--in government contracting and related matters. For these clients, he provides representation in the negotiation of joint ventures, teaming agreements and a variety of other business agreements, representation in protests to the Government Accountability Office and other agencies, and general representation before federal and state regulators.
Mr. Sherbill was born in 1954, and obtained his undergraduate degree in American History at Boston University in 1979. He received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School,
with honors, in 1982. From 1980 through 1990, he was associated with the Washington, D.C. business and government contracting law firm of Leva, Hawes, Mason & Martin, being named partner in 1989. From 1990 through 2007, Mr. Sherbill joined other colleagues as a partner in the Bethesda, Maryland law firm of Ridberg, Sherbill & Aronson, LLP, where he practiced in the areas of business and corporate law, tax law, government contracting, and real estate and construction.
Mr. Sherbill has been actively involved in a variety of local and national
charities and community organizations. For
three years he served
as president of the Fallsreach Homeowners Association.
He currently serves on
the Board of Trustees of the National Park Trust, where he was
instrumental in the establishment of the Tallgrass Prairie National
Preserve, a unit of the National Parks. He is also a member of the
Executive Committee of the Washington Chapter of ORT America, and was
given ORT’s national award for new leadership.
Mr. Sherbill also provides pro bono legal services to Combat
Soldier Recovery Fund, a charity which provides direct financial support
to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital. He is admitted to
practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
