Mr. Engel is a member of the firm's employment and litigation groups. He was born on March 18, 1960. He received a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland in 1982 where he graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received a J.D. degree from Columbia Law School in 1985 where he was a member of the Human Rights Law Review. As a counselor, Mr. Engel advises his clients regularly on a myriad of employment issues and, when necessary, litigates employment matters on their behalf. He also brings years of wide ranging civil litigation experience to his clients. He has represented clients of all sizes in state and federal court litigation and before various arbitration panels.
Mr. Engel has managed all aspects of business litigation including all pre-trial and trial work, appeals, and settlements. In addition, he works closely with in-house counsel, business executives and managers to develop successful litigation avoidance strategies. He also is a regular speaker to business and professional groups on various employment and litigation topics and writes frequently on employment issues. He also has been selected by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County to be on its approved list of mediators for civil matters. In 2006, Mr. Engel was selected as a member of the “Greater Washington Legal Elite” by Smart CEO Magazine. Mr. Engel is admitted to the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.
