April H. Birnbaum is a member of the firm’s Land Use and Zoning Group, and represents real estate owners and developers throughout the region in matters concerning the development of commercial, residential, industrial and retail properties.

Ms. Birnbaum received her J.D., with a Certificate of Concentration in Environmental Law, from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2007. While in law school, she was a team member in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, and served as a Senior Articles Editor for the Maryland Law Review, where she published a casenote entitled “A Blemished Construction of Lead-Based Paint Poisoning Negligence Jurisprudence Thwarts the Prospective Application of Judicial Decision-Making”. In 2003, she received her Master of Environmental Studies degree, with a concentration in Environmental Policy, from the University of Pennsylvania. She received her B.A. degree, with a distinction in Environmental Studies and Urban Studies, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002.

Ms. Birnbaum also has an extensive background in environmental law, having worked with numerous state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, on environmental-related issues. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a law clerk with the firm of Rich & Henderson, P.C., providing support in matters related to environmental and land use litigation.  Ms. Birnbaum is admitted to practice in Maryland.
