Joel S. Aronson is a principal in the firm’s Litigation and Commercial Lending practice groups, and Chair of the Creditor's Rights and Workouts Group. He was born in 1957, and received his B.A. degree
magna cum laude from Providence College in 1979. In 1982, he received his J.D. degree from the George Washington University National Law Center. He concentrates his practice primarily in the areas of commercial and employment litigation, with a particular focus on creditor’s rights issues and the representation of clients in the lending and financial industries.
Within the lending and financial industry, Mr. Aronson represents commercial lenders and captive finance companies in a variety of commercial disputes and litigation matters. He also serves as regional counsel for several of the nation’s largest SBA lenders. Mr. Aronson is also active in the area of creditor's rights, representing creditors and bankruptcy trustees in both chapter 11 and chapter 7 cases, as well as bringing and defending fraudulent conveyance, preference and lift stay actions.
His commercial practice extends to the representation of clients in trademark and copyright litigation, as well as representing automotive dealerships and companies involved in the automotive industry in a wide range of commercial disputes. Mr. Aronson is also well-versed in the use of alternative dispute resolution processes in order to resolve disputes without resorting to costly and time-consuming litigation.
Mr. Aronson also maintains an active employment law practice, counseling clients on employment matters, conducting in-house training programs, developing alternative dispute resolution programs for employers, and enforcing restrictive covenants and trade secrets.
He serves on the Board of several area non-profit and community organizations, including Temple Micah, Inc., and the Sumner Citizens Association. Mr. Aronson is admitted to practice in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
