Mr. Brewer practices in land use and transactional real estate matters, as well as in health care matters. He was born in Washington, D.C. on June 22, 1951. He received his B.A. degree from Hamilton College in 1973 and received his J.D. degree with honors from the University of Maryland in 1976. He served as law clerk to Judge Richard B. Latham, Sixth Judicial Circuit of Maryland, from 1976-1977. Since joining the firm in 1977, Mr. Brewer has specialized in the fields of real estate development and health care. 

His real estate practice is broad and consists primarily of representing major regional developers and institutional owners. For these clients, he handles a myriad of development applications (master plans, rezonings, special exceptions, site plans, subdivisions) and helps to coordinate development projects. He also represents hospitals, institutional healthcare entities and physicians in a wide variety of matters. 

Mr. Brewer has been actively involved in the Greater Bethesda Chevy-Chase Chamber of Commerce (President, Vice President-Economic Development, Vice President-Legislative Relations) and in the Bethesda Kiwanis Club (President, Foundation President, Secretary, Treasurer). He has served on the Board of Bethesda Urban Partnership, Inc. (Chair, 1998-1999). He was appointed to serve as the Chair for the Maryland State Bar Special Committee on Health Law for 1987-1988, and he served on the Section Council of the Health Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association from 1989-1992. Mr. Brewer was the firm's managing partner in 1988-1991, 1995-1999 and 2002-2005. He is a frequent lecturer and participant in business and community groups. Since 1996, he has served on the Board of Trustees of the Imagination Stage, a children's theatre arts group, and was President from 2000-2003. Since 1991, he has been listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America, and was listed in the Washingtonian magazine in 1997 as one of the best health care attorneys. In 2007, he was included in the Chambers Legal Guide as a leader in the fields of Health Care and Real Estate. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.
