Washington Adventist Hospital recently presented Robby Brewer with the Drs. Lauretta and James Kress Spirit of Mission Award. The Spirit of Mission Award honors exceptional organizations or individuals who exhibit a longstanding, passionate commitment consistent with Washington Adventist Hospital’s mission: to demonstrate God’s care by improving the health of people and communities through a ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
Named for two physicians who exemplified this mission through their work at the original Washington Sanitarium in the early 1900s – Dr. Lauretta Kress, the first female doctor and surgeon in Montgomery County and her husband, Dr. James Kress, the hospital’s first administrator – this award reflects heartfelt principles and the determination to make a difference as embodied in the work and lives of this extraordinary couple. Robby was recognized as a leader who embodies the philosophy of whole-person care.
This marks the second year Washington Adventist has held an awards gala; last year's Spirit of Mission award went to Bill Novelli, the founder of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.
