Jason Fisher recently spoke about "Electronic Voting for Community Associations," sponsored by the Washington Metropolitan Chapter Community Associations Institute. Technology is quickly impacting the voting procedures of community associations. While it may be too early to write off hand counting ballots and proxies, technology can help ease the paper burden as well as encourage higher response rates from owners.
The seminar focused on relevant laws in the metropolitan Washington area, as well as items to look for in individual governing documents. In addition, speakers addressed the pros and cons of electronic voting, different types of electronic voting, items to consider when comparing vendors and a list of possible vendors who cater to community associations.
