Patrick O’Neil participated with Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett and U.S. Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin in a news conference celebrating the inclusion of $300 million in the FY 11 Budget recently passed by Congress to ease BRAC-related congestion around the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda and Ft. Belvoir. Patrick represented and spoke on behalf of the county’s BRAC Implementation Committee and the Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce.
Patrick has been active in community efforts to secure federal funding to support transportation upgrades related to the consolidation of Walter Reed Army Medical Center with the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda.Earlier this year, The Washington Post published a letter to the editor that he wrote urging Congress to fund transportation upgrades.
These efforts have paid off in the new budget.
